About
Beldawn Sheltand Sheepdogs
My name is Karina. My Shelties are my passion. All my shelties live in my home with my husband, two daughters, and myself, they are our pets. They sit on the couch and sleep in our bed. Some of our Shelties' favourite things to do are playing fetch, going for long (and often muddy!) walks, and just cuddling in bed or on the couch. Shelties are mostly just happy to be with their person or people, spending time together.
Puppies at Beldawn Shetland Sheepdogs are born and raised in our living room and kitchen, and are very well socialized with people of all ages, including children, as well as other dogs, cats, and even some farm animals! They are used to being kenneled for short periods of time, are started on potty training (using a litter box as well as going outside), all different floor textures inside and out (lenolium, carpet, blankets, towels, wooden deck, gravel, grass, paving stones, etc!). They have many different types of toys and obstacles to play on and with as they grow. I take pride in raising well socialized and confident puppies.
All of our adult dogs have been tested for all common genetic illnesses seen in Shelties:
Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA)
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
Dermatomyositis (DMS)
Multi-Drug Resistance (MDR1)
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (BBS2)
Progressive Retinal Atrophy (CNGA1)
von Willebrand's Disease Type 3 (vWD3)
These diseases can be devastating to a dog, as well as their owner, and I am proud to know that I will not produce a puppy who will suffer from any of the above listed diseases, some of which can be found commonly in Sheltand Sheepdogs.
Our adults also have an eye CERF exam, as well as OFA x-rays at 2 years of age.
All this is done in order to be sure that I am doing every thing possible to decrease the chances of these puppies suffering from a preventable disease as they mature.
I always wanted a Shetland Sheepdog for as long as I can remember. That dream came true in 2016, when a litter was born by BISS Am/Can Ch Laureate Macadamia ROM/ROMC and out of Ch Cassbars Carnival Toffee at Dyniques Shelties. My first Sheltie, Nash (GCh Dynique's International Dynamo CGN RM CRAMCL) came home from this litter in January of 2017 and our journey began!
I am so thankful to Marilyn of Dyniques Shelties for choosing him for our family!
